A horror-mystery-puzzle anime in the vein of Higurashi, this one isn't quite as well-constructed, but still features compelling puzzles and interesting characters. Mei is an enjoyable spin on the Rei Ayanami archetype, her initial weirdness making more and more sense as the series progresses. The ending was a bit over-compressed, and might've worked better in the book, but you still get the important closures. Avoid if you can't handle gratuitous gore, but if you like this genre, go for it.

It is not a bad series but it takes a while to start. The first part is more like Mystery and then the Horror it is in the last part. I enjoyed the series, most the second part.

The show manages to create a very intriguing mystery with a solid core relationship at the center of it.It keeps you invested,creates a cool atmosphere and delivers a satisfying finale.That being said it does have that anime element to it;exaggerated reactions,significant changes of character from scene to scene and over the top music.That did take me out of it every now and then but it doesn't ruin the overall experience.If you are familiar with the anime tropes though this will not bother you.
