Make allowances for its age (hey it's 50 this year) and you'll find an excellent hard nosed thriller a world away from the Bond glamour. At its time it was pretty unique and Woodward & Hunter are both really good, Hunter as Lonely, wow. Personally feel it tails off a bit in the last series. Pretty much pioneered the sub genre of putupon agents/enforcers trapped in a sleazy world whose morals were even lower than their somewhat ambiguous ones.Has the UK starch & depth that US series tend to lack.
