I'm not gonna criticise anybody for trying to raise awareness of important social issues. The protagonist here is a passionate and empathetic human who wants to make a difference. That's great, but just about everything here is eclipsed by Streetwise which is the real deal. It doesn't help that Children of the Night is poorly penned and paced.
