One of the best character build shows to come out in ages. Deals with society norms for classes in a small town. Some really funny life stories and some tear jerkers too. Rag to riches, poor to poorer, but who is really poor when you have good friends.

Ties up too neatly in the end, but most of Cranford's five hr running time is a delight with every actress and actor fully embodying their roles.

In many ways it is a rather conventional series about the clash of entrenched conservative values with the inevitable force of modernity, but it manages to rise above that with wonderfully drawn characters and plenty of humor.

A decent townsfolk period drama with a good cast where the subject is focused on everyday quarrels mostly, in that regard it's very Austen. The problem is I grew tired of such long ago. For the record just watched 1 episode.
