Dandadan exists to be a vehicle for what it is. Your rating will hinge exclusively on how much you wanted it. This one is cool art, combat, horny adolescence, high-school romance, sports training. The dialogue is that hyper-expository anime style that grates my ears. "You're trapped in this circle by my magic nail." "I only have one All-Out left!!!!" :does two all-outs: Meanwhile, all the gravitas leaves the room. The story beats are stupid. It's fun enough.

Ultra smooth animations, likeable leads, a ton of humor in a very dark setting at times. I am NOT a huge anime fan, but this is great.

The vivid animation and tonal whiplash tether you to Momo and Okarun’s epistemic journey—as if their certainties are things among things.
