Suprinsgly entertaining. Dave's neuroticism mixed with some pretty funny sidekicks plus the occasional swerve into legitimate drama is nice. EDIT - through season one and into two, its quality has held up. If you like things like Louie, or Better Things, this will probably be right up your alley.

By S3 the creative satire increasingly shifts toward egotism and a celebration of the entertainment industry. The materialism, narcissism and celebrity-adoration often seem cloaked in only a thin veneer of conscious criticism, more akin to shows like 'Entourage'. Sincerity still shines through, but it's often mired in sensationalism and a borderline adulation for a parasocial culture perpetuated by artists and their obsessive fans in relationships that are more reminiscent of some perverse cult.
