Veteran New York City comic Dave Attell is back with his Comedy Central stand-up special "Road Work." This unique special cuts together multiple performances from Attell's past tour. From New Orleans to Philadelphia to Minneapolis and more, "Road Work" feels more like a concert film than a traditional stand-up special. Of course, it wouldn't be a proper Attell show without his expert crowd work and clever R-rated material in what he calls "a filthy, dirty mess of a show." (imdb)

Dave doing what Dave does. His raunch is still at it's peak, but it's the way Dave has always been able to make low-brow on par with the best observational stand up which always makes his shows enjoyable. He's just the textbook definition of a funny guy who just delivers one punch after another for a full 12 rounds. He will always be one of my favorites.

It's easy to see why Attell has influenced so many modern comics. It's rapid fire all the time from easy jokes (which he even acknowledges) to the more clever ones to just goofball off the wall type stuff. Conceptually, this is put together in a really fun way.

Filmically ragged (and I wish we could have seen more of Attell’s different sets as he keeps cutting off just as he hits his rhythm), but if you are going to do rancid, ugly and hostile comedy, this is the way to do it, by charging in bluntly and unapologetically, while depending on clever verbal sleight of hand to act as cushion (shouting the n-word at an eclipse legitimately had me rolling). Some great stuff here and an encouragement to seek out more of Attell’s work.

It's no Skanks for the memories obviously but respect the hustle. Jokes on jokes on jokes. How can a man make any weird gross thing funny?

You know you've been doing stand up for too long when you're vulgar as hell but deliver it super casual.
