Helstrom

Is this the Son of Satan or not? Unclear. Will fans of the character (either the 70s or Ellis version) recognize this snarky but thoroughly un-arrogant & self-pitying do-gooder? No. Satana's still "edgy" which is appropriate since this turns into a Woke battle between females. At 1 point a virtue-signaling killjoy basically says it's a woman's choice to decide whether or not they kill the rapidly growing demon inside her. It's also very confusing & mostly tells rather than shows.

The least Marvel-like Marvel production of all time. It would be a nice trick question in Who Wants to be a Millionaire? in this aspect. But being "non-Marvel" didn't add much, they tried to create "edgy" characters but they come off as unengaged or annoying. There is great potential in the main story (kids of a possessed serial killer with demonic powers), but the frame of the story is never properly put in place, ending up in a mess with some great prop work (the skull of demon killer thing)

I usually dislike formats about posessions, but Helstrom is done somehow elegant and engaging. The plot and its execution are superbly done. Unfortunately the series are cancelled after mere 10 episodes. Shame on them!
