Admirable attempt to encompass the complete Holocaust unfortunately feels too long and repetitive at times (despite the worthy subject matter) and has since been eclipsed by many greater movies and mini-series on the same subject (eg. WAR AND REMEMBRANCE). Borderline soapy elements in the early stages don't help either. However performances across the board are generally strong, with Woods, Harris and Weaver standing out, but dominated by Moriarty's chilling portrait of corrupt evil.

A very good treatise on the Final Solution. This won all kinds of Emmys back in its day and it was wholeheartedly deserved.

You don't expect a '70s U.S. TV production to be this good, or this ballsy. Very strong cast, very well researched... all told, a damn good piece of work, especially considering. It's not _Shoah_, but what else could possibly be?
