NOT THE RELATIVELY RECENT ANIMATION which is a reboot... a series that has some cachet as an older but excellent product (note following is my opinion, best to make your own). However I found it to be very erratic. When it concentrates on serious matters (ie the murder, gang warfare, police corruption and mental health) it can be quite engrossing. However there is too much silliness and random issues. Tries to do too much IMO and so fails overall. Well played within its genre and well budgeted.
