Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts

Visually inventive and heartfelt, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts delivers a strong message about empathy, coexistence, and hope. Its world of music and mutant creatures feels fresh and optimistic. Some humor about pain feels off-tone, and the inclusion of same-sex romance may suit some families more than others. Overall, a creative, kind-spirited series worth watching and discussing together.

The 1st season of Kipo sets up the world in a fun, colourful and musical fashion. The 2nd season uses that base to develop the story in the best way, with deeper characters, themes and plot twists. The show is a superb blend of style and substance.

This show would be pretty meh if it weren't for the fact that it has the best use of music I've ever seen in a cartoon that isn't Steven Universe. That alone pushes the fight scenes and chase scenes, which I can usually get pretty bored by, into properly awesome territory.
