The Winter Festival is coming and Po is asked to host the great exclusive formal banquet for all the Masters of Kung Fu. The occasion is on the same night as his father's restaurant's own party and Mr. Ping, upset at his son's absence, will not cancel it to cook for the masters at Po's request. Burdened by his father's imposed guilt about his conflicting responsibilities, Po finds all the preparations a dispiriting struggle. However, the solution comes from where he least expects.

A cute tale starring Po the Dragon Warrior, who happens to be a clumsy and cute panda. Po has to cook dinner for all the Kung Fu masters for the holidays. This obviously adds a new and stressful trial for the newly crowned Dragon Warrior. The whole film is quite short, even by television episode standards. I was impressed to see that many of the original voices from Kung Fu Panda also took part in this movie. The best part in this was when the rabbit kept trying to kill himself for honor.

Cute and sweet natured addendum to the PANDA franchise is notable for the good sport participation of all of the big screen voices, though “character has to cook might-as-well-call-it-Christmas dinner for family” has been played out numerous time to better effect (pretty sure SHREK THE HALLS was the best example). But I digress – it gets in and out with a minimum of fuss, and is a passable diversion for that.

It's a lot better than most tacked on holiday specials (I'm looking at you, Shrek), but it still isn't particularly memorable. The opening dream sequence is great and, at the risk of sounding cheesy, it does invoke the spirit of Christmas.
