This is preferable to ‘LA 92', even if it's twice as long. The running time is well spent examining the build-up and possible causes, as well as the human stories behind the shocking footage of the event itself. Lending a voice to heroes and villains alike, the tragic complexity of the riots come to life, showcasing both the best and the worst of humanity. The Rodney King cop trail was a racist farce, but at the same time, looting some poor Asian's store cannot be excused as emancipation

Great documentary, my favourite movie of the year so far (along with "Logan"). Very informative, a lot of different perspectives and contexts. Very informational and affecting. It really explodes myths and your impressions of the events that are probably ingrained in your memory through whichever side of the racial divide you related to at the time.
