Aaaaaaaaa dgbkdsfl. There's so many good characters and so many good themes about magic and disability and being a person and everybody gets their chance to shine and it's *super gay* and Akko is an astoundingly amazing fun and good character. People compare it to Harry Potter, but the only real similarities are a bunch of little things where it takes a plot point that was bad and weird in HP and does it good and smart and caring and gay. And references to '30s animation and giant robots and!!!!

Is it basically a beat for beat ripoff of Harry Potter? Yes. Do I hate basically every single 'academy for magic/superpowers/lazy plot device to have an MC who's completely useless at a special skill but then learns to master the skill eventually impressing the people who doubted them and they're all the exact fucking same' anime ever produced? Yes. Is Trigger still saving anime? Absolutely. LWA is basically all of those shows but actually amusing and with Trigger's excellent animation to boot.

Completely charming fun. With more time than the shorts afforded, we get to dive further into the characters and cheer Akko along on her journey. I don't have to mention how great Trigger's animation is at this point, right? The only real complaint I have is the pacing was sometimes off, mostly in the second half. But that hardly matters, as it all builds to an incredible climax, one that will leave you smiling for days.
