Fantastic view into the everyday life of (one of) the most extreme sects I have witnessed. Made possible as the sect insisted on meticulously documenting everything. Even during the weeks they resided with their deceased "deity" as a corpse (it must not have been the most pleasant smell). As a fictional film, it would have been considered too strange. But it isn't and so it offers a lens through which we can glimpse the religious instinct that drives us to still praise someone else who died.

If 2025 doesn't bring a Netflix doc about how all of this was staged, I'll be shocked. These are actors/tricksters/weirdo "influencers" who are knowingly wasting your time or tricking you with nonsense. From a found "documentary" filmmaking perspective, this is brilliant. Unfortunately, they went through all this effort yet couldn't help but construct an insufferable script. Maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe Robin Williams' ghost will sue for libel. Maybe Dr. Phil IS enough-it was for Bhad Bhabie.

This group feels like it's half way between a cult and a group of friends on a particularly deep and extended hallucinogenic trip. I never really got a good understanding of what it was that drew people into her, as she seemed less obviously charismatic than most cult leaders. I do think this would have been better if it was a 110 minute documentary, rather than 3-part series.
