This aired in two parts, with a national competition to solve the mystery before the second part aired. It seems they thought the best challenge was a bad mystery, with a solution that depends on taking some scenes at face value, reading others as characters outright lying, inferring offscreen events based on extremely dubious psychological evidence, and ignoring when they pull out a literal gun *in space*. The result is a determinedly boring story, not worth the effort to figure out.
