This show has some good bones, but the expected woke psycho Karens on the writing crew chose to vomit their messaging all over the skeleton instead of putting some real meat in the story. THE MAIN THEME OF SHOW IS ALREADY ABOUT HOW IGNORANCE LEADS TO TRAGEDY through the plot of humans fighting supernaturals, but the writers just can't help themselves: "Let's pause the show to put in a me-too scene, or a ridiculous line about it being harder to be black than a warlock literally being hunted"

(TV) Some fun supernatural shenanigans and quirky family/teen drama. As ever I enjoy a positive representation of strong sibling bond (as opposed to using it for cheap melodrama fodder). Pulpy show that had something going, but closing eps show for its lack of budget and at times dialogue felt a little underwritten. I do think its heart is in the right place, though, it's just quite on the nose. I wouldn't put it past Netflix to spring a second season at some point, it definitely has potential.

Sold itself on being a supernatural hunter/family drama and at first it seemed to be just that. Not terribly good, but not terribly terrible either. Until it shifted gear into a heavy-handed "we are the true monsters" reveal and then tried desperately to redeem characters we had just learned were despicable. Add to that some lackluster acting and Geoff and Viv really managed to get on my nerves. I ended up watching it just out of spite because I knew there wouldn't be a season 2.
