like blackjack, it seems that john woo was speaking chinese to english-speaking cast and crew and no one bothered to translate. this one doesn't have the added benefits of eyepatched butlers and dolph screaming in terror over spilt milk. ultimately, it's unwatchable and is added to the list of now only 3 films i ever turned off, not being able to bear it anymore. maybe one day, out of my love for john woo, ill skip to the climax to see what's there...but it's left undone for now.
