This show oozes masculinity with Liev Schrieber giving life to one of the coolest, most restrained characters on television right now. He's so good as Ray that I'm compelled to check out his other work. Jon Voight as Mickey is hilarious, sad and deep character and he nails it every time. The wife is the worst TV wife since Skylar White but more annoying cause she has a Boston accent. Season 2 was way better than season 1 but both were awesome

Season 1-4: Good/great. Season 5: Terrible.

Season 5 had me worried a bit that the show might be beginning the downward slide towards mediocrity. I enjoyed it, and it was still damn good television, but it just didn't feel up to par with the previous seasons. Fortunately, season 6 managed to dispel any ideas about the show heading downhill. In fact, I think it's the best season yet.

The wife's accent really grates! And Season 4 is quite boring.

Ray is a really cool main character but we don't spend as much time with him or the other interesting characters as we should. too much time is devoted to less engrossing side plots and the show has a real bad habit of hanging onto characters that should have been one episode guest stars, while killing off characters that could have done much more. (Season 1) (Season 2) His family just keeps getting more and more annoying. Some subplots work a lot better than others.

I watched the whole first season. This show is not good. Unbearable writing, annoying accents, hokey acting, and a terrible shrill harpy wife that disapproves of everything except the paycheck. Basically this guy runs around blackmailing or beating up all of his problems and somehow never gets caught by the police. Also, child molestation is a heavily recurring theme. There are a ton of far better anti-hero shows out there.

A show without a vision. It's got a concept that sounds cut out for a Justified-esque dramedy, but the actual show is surprisingly straightfaced and unfunny (whenever Jon Voight isn't on screen, at least). It doesn't have a clear sense of purpose to justify how seriously it takes itself and after that extremely lackluster s03 I'm convinced the writers have no idea where they're going. Solid performances all around, Voight is especially fantastic (and easily the best thing about this).
