The first 20 mins or so are a recap on Jay’s career and coming in at around an hour in total it’s a short and sweet programme, but also very limited with the feeling you’re still not much closer to answering the titular question. Writing now in 2023 it seems they’re finally getting close to a conviction, and Tenad’s right at the heart of it. Amazing to think the murder was back in 2002 – it feels like it happened only a few years ago.

When Jam Master Jay died, it was the end of Run DMC: the chemical link was broken. The group were also well beyond their prime creative years, but they tore down musical boundaries and left an indelible mark. That is the real Jam Master Jay story, not this half arsed faux 'investigation' that is basically a racially charged indictment of American law enforcement. What's needed now in this age of forgetfulness is a timely reminder of why Run DMC mattered. This is borderline conspiracy fluff.
