Weld does a fine job, and Waterston delivers an okay performance given what he has to work with, but Hackett overacts mercilessly. This version amps up Waterston's terribleness to levels that render a lot of the plot implausible. The restaging of the central murder is ridiculous, and it stretches out the mystery of where Waterston's body has gone to tedious lengths. It's barely worth sitting through.
