Yuta Hibiki can't remember who he is, and now he's seeing and hearing things that others don't. A voice from an old computer tells him to remember his calling, and he sees a massive, unmoving creature in the distance. Nothing's making sense-until the behemoth springs to life. What if Evangelion had leaned further into its Ultra-inspired origins? Well, it wouldn't be this, but it wouldn't be *unlike* this, either. The important thing about a "slow-burn-plot character-focused existential mystery" anime is the characters, and these ones shine, being far deeper than they appear at first. I want to hug all of them, including the villain, *including* after she's been outright abusive. (I mean, first I want to stop that. But then the hugging.) Plus good battles fun.

Borrows liberally from Evangelion and that's never going to be a flattering comparison. It's still a good show with an immersive atmosphere and some interesting characters but when you invite comparison to the best 'good' isn't really going to cut it.
