Really not a thriller at all more like a liberal self-flagellating whodunnit. No sympathetic characters

Is this anti-Muslim propaganda? It sure feels like it. Morally backwards and obnoxious, to say the least. The premise hinges on the immensely vindictive and immature idea that someone's gesture of thoughtfulness is not only insufficient but deserving of punishment due to a combination of bad luck and a childish misunderstanding. It seemed interesting enough, but the narrative is divisive and tone deaf, having the opposite effect of what it sets out to do, presumably.
