Soldier's Girl

Frustrating, if well intentioned, drama scatters and dilutes its focus between the two main characters, not giving either of them the chance to develop beyond broad stereotypes and leaving their arcs feeling unfinished and underdone; this also gives the film an oddly inert, aimless quality, especially in the overly busy mid-section. Rescued by terrific performances, especially Pace and Garity who invest their fumbling, evolving relationship with all of the poignancy and passion required.

Intense and effective but not an outstanding filmmaking.

Rather forgettable. Definitely a milestone for trans representation.

Acting except for Lee Pace was really a comedown. The only thing I am going to remember is Barry's quote: "I don't know what people expect from me I just want to be happy"

Although it never quite escapes its low budget, made-for-tv aesthetic (if only they got financial backing to expand this into a feature), this is an genuinely powerful and tragic love story. Two incredible leads with an intense chemistry that the filmmakers do not flinch from. Lee Pace is mesmerizing!
