Like if Peter Weir made a Western, replete with borderline ethnographic accuracy and pulsing electronic music. The style is an infectious brand of scrappy realism akin to Robert Benton's Bad Company (1972), but this is the more fully-realized work. EJO completely slays the title role. It's an essential Texas story told with uncommon authenticity.
