Great doc that ties a lot of threads together to give you a comprehensive understanding of one of the most incredible, despicable disasters in modern times.

Scores strongly in its first episode providing an in-depth overview of the history of narcotics while folding in some genuinely affecting and tragic case studies; the second episode bogs down in a lot of breathless legal technicalities which Gibney seems to struggle to shape into coherency (especially for the uninitiated) – a third episode of breathing room might have been useful to further tease out some of the complexities. As it stands, a noble, important effort that just misses the mark.

Alex Gibney undresses the opioid crisis in the United States. This one is a depressing, but very important, look at big pharma's greed. Netting them billions of dollars at the cost of thousands of lives.
