The Honourable Woman

I have to rate it low, although it is in many ways a splendid show. Reason: The show is known for being one of the most complex shows ever on British TV. Because the show unfolds with a series of scenes over an extended period, and the true importance of these scenes is only revealed gradually, I had to put in a massive effort to stay focused and keep track of maybe 50 characters by the end. I found that all that effort was simply not worth it, and I am happy it is over now.

Unfortunately I find it almost impossible to empathise with the rich and powerful. There was nothing to compel me to watch a second episode other than an interest in how this series might be framing the Palestinian occupation.

Unfortunately, the subdued, naturalistic aesthetic wasn't pursued fully in favour of flavourings of trite, melodramatic emotion, filler thriller and forced symbolism, instruments clearly out of place within--and subsequently bringing imbalance to--the whole.

Great plot and cinematography - but sometimes difficult to follow. Maggie Gyllenhaal has such a glass-cut perfect English accent it is scary.

Nicely done but telegraphs a little too clearly what should've been surprises.
