Karen doesn't really "battle" anorexia for the most part, she more like courts it. This really suffers from being a TV movie. Sargent is an able film director but the style of production here is like that of a soap opera. There are no particularly sour notes but no highs either, and it all just seems to march along to a familiar beat (and I don't mean the Carpenters songs in the soundtrack).
