The Politician uses mostly style and some substance with its semi-satirical look at politics. Unfortunately the cast and characters are beyond annoying. Murphy's latest series takes his views on gender, sexuality, relationships and obscene wealth, and delivers them in an obnoxious fashion reminiscent of a steroidal Glee or Scream Queens. Halfway through S01, the show loses focus of its premise of the kid who's obsessed with becoming president. S02 is just as obnoxious. Can't say I'm enjoying it.

Great cast, in a well crafted series, heavily influenced by Wes Anderson, for Generation Zers. It's an ironic satire that essentially pokes fun at the very actors in the show. It's mild poking--not enough to bruise egos, but enough to give self-validation. Despite its themes, it can be obnoxiously heavy on the social and identity politics, with the commentary being absurdly PC and self-righteous. LOTS of WTF moments. Rarely clever, witty or subtle, with some mild, base entertainment value. S2-0.
