This Is England '90

This is England '90 is the series that I have been most excited for and as a huge fan of the music scene at that time, I have always looked forward to seeing Shane Meadows bring back these characters in a post-Thatcher 90's era. Thomas Turgoose & the wrest of the cast return with a great deal of fun and antics. And their fitting send off is as equally satisfying. The story has come full circle and This is England has been an incredible tale with an equal measure of laughs & tears along the way.

Excellent.

Manages to inject some fun back into the series, only this time unfortunately the fashion and music are terrible (can we please just fast-forward to This Is England '94 and get to Britpop already?) There's still way too much shout-y, flailing improv going on, and it dips into sentimentality a fair bit, but as a whole the show is still a far more impressive and artistically successful accomplishment for what it is than, say, Boyhood.
