The 1st season is brilliant, though until the end, there is little character growth from the MC. The plot moves at a good pace, with interesting characters and the grounds for several new plots and sub-plots being laid. The timeline of the second and third seasons is skewed, and the second strays far from the manga, though I cannot comment on the third season. Thoroughly enjoyable violence, with a very dark atmosphere.

I liked it a lot when it was a low-key outsider drama about pacifist vampires, not so much when it turned into a ridiculous battle shounen affair. Despite being kind of a mess it still got me quite attached to the main characters and had me legitimately fearing for their lives by the last episode. Didn't watch s2 because by all accounts it's a trainwreck.

Some decent drama and violence until the final ep, which goes completely overboard with the edginess and sours all the previous episodes. Who thought that was a good idea?
