A lot of this show is a fairly standard formula - but it takes that formula and pushes it to an emotional height whose best moments rival or beat Hollywood's high-budget marvels. The supporting cast is really solid and gets lots to do, and there are character twists aplenty, including one in the last episode that recontextualizes the rest wonderfully. There's more filler than I would like, but even the filler can be magnificent - check out episode 22 for a beautiful example. Excellent stuff.
