Starts promising, however after 2-3 episodes, it is clear that the derivative plot can't tie together the increasingly random montage of magic battles and spiritual encounters. Last two episodes are visually splendid, but have become so unhinged it was impossible to feel any excitement.

frankly bad plot and writing specifically fail this show. big tonal whiplash from the psuedo period piece drama and magic + mech battles. doesn't really earn it's important character moments. LaKeith Stanfield doesn't really pop off

Yasuke has some interesting elements but its tepid production makes it a chore to watch at times. There's some unnecessary gore, but it's the music choices and muted voice acting that really let the whole thing down. The show's approach to race is a dominant theme, but it never overshadows the main plot; a commendable feat for a modern show. Unfortunately, that plot is just lacklustre.

A total mess of a show, the focus is structurally and thematically incoherent with pacing that never allows anything to work. It also defies expectations. I was expecting a show about Yasuke and his association with Nobunaga; instead, it's some dumb shit about a magic loli deus machina who overshadows the lead. The use of modern social issues is also astoundingly retarded, the idea of Mitsuhide betraying Nobunaga because he's racist against one of his lowly servants is laughably absurd.
