20 Gamer (2009) - Dec 06, 2010
Mini-Review: It takes the worst fears of the online world and smears them across our faces. Everyone seem to have lost their humanism. Although intentional, it just feels like a clinical, one dimensional style of story telling.Nothing rings true. The movie makes no sense. The dialogue is atrocious, the editing is lousy, the world portrayed is ridiculous. I cannot fathom how the director, producer, and editor could possibly give the go ahead with this...unless they were all on drugs .. of the bad kind.
40 Splice (2010) - Nov 25, 2010
Mini-Review: What can I say. Its an interesting concept that came out a bit...crap. I found both Adrien Brody's emasculated character, or Sarah Polley's overbearing act a hinderance to any enjoyment. Their lack of any sense of morality, or judgement astounds me and just puts the entire storyline in doubt from the start. The only way this movie could have redeemed itself is by the death of the entire cast, none of whom were likable. On a positive note, the CGI was brilliant!
80 Returner (2002) - Aug 30, 2010
89 Advise & Consent (1962) - Aug 21, 2010
Mini-Review: B+W 60s film that revolves around the appointment of a new Secretary of State. I enjoyed the clever banter from some very strong characters. This movie has no action, but it kept me in suspense. There is no murder, or puzzle to solve, just a good old fashion political drama. Although this was made nearly 50 years ago, I believe it is still relevant even today, especially if you enjoy a bit of politics with your morning news. This is the art of movie making that is lacking in today's cinema.
78 Hancock (2008) - Aug 15, 2010
85 Micmacs (2009) - Aug 14, 2010
Mini-Review: This movie is funny, quirky and very French.
68 After.Life (2009) - Aug 01, 2010
Mini-Review: I found it strange that the only person that was consistent and maintain a bit of believability was Liam Neeson%u2019s character. Stoic and committed to his ideals, he seemed the only one that I could believe. Pro: Great concept. Liam Neeson. Radiohead. Con: Slow. Unbelievable characters and storylines. Overuse of the hollywood orange/blue colour theme.
80 How to Murder Your Wife (1965) - Jul 24, 2010
87 Up in the Air (2009) - Jul 17, 2010
Mini-Review: This is a movie that would be lost on the young, which is why I love it. Excellent cinematography, superb dialogue and even the small things, such as the colour tones warms me from the beginning. The movie carries with it a strong theme, and boy does it deliver it well. GC was born for roles like this. Except for one scene of implausability towards the end, the overall story was well written and perfectly acted out. My BluRay purchase was good one.
