At Middleton

Not wanting a heavy or intensive film, I watched At Middleton, and for 100 minutes I was. As unassuming as the film looked, I had a smile on my face almost throughout. It's sweet, sappy, silly and likeable, if not relatable. Garcia and V. Farmiga have great chemistry, and T. Farmiga's bratty interjections help to maintain an enjoyable pace. Essentially it's a RomCom, but if that's all it is, it's a good one.

This should be called Parents Gone Wild. Two parents, Vera Farmiga and Andy Garcia, take their kids to a campus tour at Middleton. The two play hooky and end up having a whirlwind romance. The only problem is, they are both still married. The romance plot didn't work, I really didn't like how flippant the two were about their own marriages. I did like that Vera Farmiga played the mother of her youngest sister Taissa Farmiga...

Light Frothy Comedy about two middle-aged parents who meet when taking their children for a college tour. Half-way through they realize they shouldn't be having this much "fun" since they're married. Has the feel most of the way through of an improv. But the best scene is the definitely scripted with Tom Skerrit bringing the starry eyed student back down to Earth.
