Beeba Boys: a ferocious, adrenaline-charged Indo Canadian gang war, and a violent clash of culture and crime. Gang leader Jeet Johar and his young, loyal, and often-brutal crew dress like peacocks, love attention, and openly compete with an old style Indo crime syndicate to take over the Vancouver drug and arms scene. It has a few clunky lines and some of the acting could be better, but this movie really surprised me! Mehta, as always, is an ace behind the camera and Hooda gives one of the finest performances I've seen on film. It's not some gooey immigration tale about people finding each other and settling into new lives. It's a fast, brutal mafia film from start to finish with a little bit of Sikh culture sprinkled on the side.
