Farrebique ou Les quatre saisons

A touching document of a generational turnover. Using seasons as a guide we see both the farmwork and interpersonal relationships ebb and flow through the good and the bad, the mundane and the exceptional. Even at the height of drama the film stays lyrical and relatively subdued, the rock won't move no matter the storm and everyone works around that. It's nice to see all the generations and their varying concerns and preoccupations. Sometimes the it's a bit too subdued for me but it works well.

Farrebique estreava há 75 anos no Festival de Cannes (que era em setembro!). Acho é visível uma certa influência dos filmes agrários soviéticos, mas sem ser tão politicamente dogmático e mais como funciona os meandros do sistema patriarcal. Belo, mas não memorável. DVDRip no MakingOff.

Docudrama about life on the farm. We follow a year cycle with shifting seasons and annual dilemmas. Its got atmosphere. Aesthetically its like those British war-time documentaries, yet, the surroundings are unmistakably French. Certainly has it's appeal, though, more a cozy chilled-out experience.
