Its a fine drama for what it is but nothing that really needs to be sought out.

Almost comically that they had to import a director when the three main male actors here were to become Sweden's most prominent directors in the early silent era. Victor Sjöström, Mauritz Stiller & Georg af Klercker are all over the screen at least. That reassures a solid 1912 drama. Sjöström especially has a magnetic presence and drives the emotion. Stiller didn't do many acting gigs during his film career, this might have been the biggest role he ever had. A effective ladies man in uniform
