La trinchera infinita

This is a really long film (2 1/2 hours) about a man hiding in a hole (he does change hiding spots mid film, but he's always hiding in a concealed hole), and it's remarkably compelling for such a static sounding concept. Multiple threats surface, and there are a lot of really tense scenes, but ultimately, it's more about the destructive effect this has on his marriage and the way he ultimately internalizes the threat after spending decades living in fear of everyone around him.

Pretty engrossing and we'll earned drama, but there's only so much you can do with a guy hiding in a wall for thirty years. Still, all that was done, was done pretty well.

Parts of this film are so dark that you know its title is fitting; you're watching events unfold like you're buried deep in a trench.
