Les misérables

The version I watched was 6.25 hours long. A true epic in both scope and feel.

The cut-down version of Henri Fescourt film is one that captures the core of the story. Some of the shots might lack the finesse that someone like Abel Gance might have stylized this, but Fescourt isn't without touches and does use some nice cross-editing and effects to capture the emotional dilemmas in the story. But also the available print is a bit rough so not all the details are all that clear. If one day the complete version comes available it might be one that challenges both those!
