It's almost like a tonier version of Paul Haggis' Crash. Every scene relates neatly to the theme. Not a scene goes by in which a character doesn't pursue his self-interest at the expense of communicating or empathizing with those around him. There are varying degrees, and the film does a good job of showing all the different types of selfishness, and the characters are well-drawn enough that they can provide several shades of reaction to their slights, real or perceived.

Jaoui's best film, in my opinion, this echoes a number of the concerns and themes in her very strong first effort, The Taste of Others. We again see here the transformative effect that art can have in one's life and the importance of truly listening to others. While Jaoui's first film might have more purely funny moments, this one has a bit more heart, a greater sense of transcendence behind the changes that take place in these characters.

Jeff_V summed quite nicely the film. Look at Me was, as it says, a selfish film shown through multiple selfish characters. Selfishness has many faces. The theme was nicely covered, then again jumps in time were not always as successful.

Kind of typical french movie. Plot was boring although there was many opportunities to make it interesting. Best part was the musical score.
