Make Believe

At some points it gets a little hard to relate to the suburban white kids and their problems of getting into the world of magic (mostly because they aren't really problems). But holy shit was that Asian kid good and it was pretty great that he won. When he is on the beach and does the trick with 4 pebbles on his shirt that was some impressive shit.

It's very much the magic analogue to Spellbound. Not quite as good if only because we don't get to know the kids as well as you might like. Worth it just to hear the line "I wanna be Asian when I grow up."

The people's stories mostly aren't as interesting as their magic, the showing off of which was, sadly, de-emphasized. The personal aspect might've been more interesting if there'd actually been much drama about the results of the competition, but it was pretty clear since their introductions which of them would end up on top.
