Part Jee-woon Kim and part Koreeda. Not an entirely succesful combination but a must for collectors of Asian gangster films.

Gracefully shot, this tale about a killer switching jobs unintentionally is quirky, funny, depressing and hopeful. The movie manages to switch moods perfectly, so that you never spend too much time in one mindset. Chang Chen delivers a fantastic performance even though he makes the same face for almost the whole movie.

A slow-paced drama/comedy/action hybrid about a hardened hitman who befriends a young boy and his mother while he's on the lam. The mixture of genres worked well for me for the most part, and despite the movie's pace and lack of dialogue I was never bored. Towards the end there was a little tonal whiplash, and one character's fate in particular left a somewhat sour aftertaste.

I totally fell for the cute kid. The rest of the movie seemed a little too predictable (even though I couldn't help but laugh at the happy ending). The fight scenes were well choreographed, and I liked the raw way the whole film was shot. What bothered me most though, was the lenghty cutback to the mother's life. All in all, a nice way to spend an evening, but not the best movie out there.
