Venturing from Venice Beach to Watts, Agnès Varda looks at the murals of LA as backdrop to and mirror of the city's many cultures. She casts a curious eye on graffiti and photorealism, roller disco & gang violence, evangelical Christians, Hare Krishnas, artists, angels and ordinary Angelenos. (Mubi)

Any singular image is probably better than most filmmakers entire careers and the ending has a fun Jodorowsky-esque vibe. But it's such a goddamn bore.

agnès' documentaries are so nice. a little more directly focused on the topic at hand than her gleaning stuff, but still a work of storytelling, and some of the art is beautiful.

If cinema can be used for compassion Varda is the poster child for it all. Documenting history of peoples that might’ve been forgotten otherwise with such beauty
