Once Upon a Time in Vietnam

This is a Vietnamese superhero film. It's like a cross between Storm Riders and Fist of the North Star but not as good as either.

In this high-budget martial arts fantasy, it was never quite clear to me why these men (and lady) kept beating each other up with swords and smashing all the furniture. I'm sure it was something important though. The fights were ok, the storytelling clear enough, the set and costume design above expectations. In the end it was the underdeveloped characters which made this kickfest one of the more forgettable Crouching Tiger / Tony Jaa / Yuen Wo Ping imitations. But a new step for Vietnam cinema.
