Out of the Wild

The ageing cowhand seeking redemption is an overly familiar plot at this point, but this beautifully filmed and quietly moving drama provides its own rewards; it's a delight to see perennial bridesmaids Diehl and Kelly handed a pair of terrific leading roles to inhabit so convincingly; while their relationship follows a predictable path, the quality of performance makes the journey worthwhile. An unnecessary, overplayed subplot for Ashbrook as a vengeful rival is the only major misstep.

This plays like a cheesy made for TV or Hallmark movie. The acting was reasonable but not remarkable. Story is out of place to have been set in modern times. Slow and plodding through most of it. What little action there is was rather strained. Too much emphasis was given to the mundane boring parts. The love story, like the action, was mostly unconvincing or rushed. Overall, this is barely watchable, mostly due to boring and uninteresting music, writing and direction.
