The married dance team of Fleurette and Benny haven't been doing great, but they haven't been doing poorly either. Mediocrity is OK with Benny as long as he has Fleurette, but Fleurette longs for the big time. The owner of a prominent nightclub notices their act and offers them a whopping 800 dollars a week to headline. (imdb)

"Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians" more likely conjures group's later incarnations from after the chorus took front, but in the 20s, they were as big a touring and recording dance band as anyone, with their share of hit hot numbers for Victor. And that's how we find them being the star attraction in RKO's first feature. In tow is Dorothy Lee, spotted by the studio appearing in their Broadway show of last year, Hello Yourself! Nice songs, at least; Morton Downey (senior, mercifully) sings.

RKO arrived to Tinseltown with Syncopation (1929), a musical taking advantage of their specialty sound equipment. A capable light musical as they did them in the early years, using the third and unsuccessful Bennett sister (Joan & Constance), Barbara Bennett, and Bobby Watson as it's attraction. Well, honestly they weren't, but performed well enough not to stink up the place. It's probable more a curio piece than anything else, but for a 1929 musical it's quite alright.
