The Beauty Inside

I must be in a really romantic mood of late for the sweetness of The Beauty Inside (2015) hit me hard! Hyo-ju Han and her 123 leading men touched something with it's complicated simplicity. For a while I though it was a disillusion prostitute story, but when I realized it was all about this couple and their bizarre little problem, the experience was pure beauty.

2 hours of melodramatic music. Corny as hell lol

Interesting idea, executed quite well in the beginning. Like many Korean films it dragged on for quite a while in the middle, but had a cutely packaged ending. I don't think they made the most of the idea, it needed to be edited to a more compact and dynamic form. I found the story hard to follow sometimes due to lack of obvious clues as to what was going on. It feels like only in Korea would someone become a remote freelance furniture designer - can't wait to see how Hollywood handles that.

Interesting concept, felt like they could've done more with it.

The setup was kinda clever and the couple was sweet. However, the movie doesn't really present the hardship Woo-jin's condition places on Yi-soo which makes some of the dramatic elements appear out of nowhere. But since the movie is already pretty long, it's fine, I guess.
