A beautiful and heart-warming film.Claire Bouanich (as Elsa) and Michael Serrault (as Julien) are great in this film. There growing friendship is simply portrayed and very realistic. The light soundtrack and cinemtography add a subtle grace as well.

Short and sweet; The Butterfly is an amusing tale of a kidnapping gone right. Serrault's grumpy demeanour and Bouanich's exuberance play well off each other. This setup isn't anything new, but it's done well here. Each character gets the catharsis they need, while the relationship feels organic even if the situations are contrived. A nice balance of comedy and drama. The shadow-puppet bedtime story was my favourite bit.
