The Curse of Downers Grove

Moderately interesting movie about a curse that may or may not exist, but isn't thrilling, has poor characters, and ultimately doesn't amount to much.

I think that, for someone at risk, the main character is a bit refreshing in a sea of clueless frightened damsel in distress teenager girls. She had some above average moments and some guts to a believable level. But the movie's not that polished overall, some characters make no sense

"The suburbs are the ghettos of the meaningless." I feel a bit tricked. The title suggested a horror film. Nothing suggested it was actually going to be, you know, somewhat horrifying. And the film is certainly slightly enigmatic, Including the longish post-credit sequence I almost missed, making it a bit difficult to be absolutely sure that Matthew Parkinson (The Escapist) is right that it "doesn't amount to much". Though he probably is.

So what was the moral of the story? To think that if she'd just slept with those guys we wouldn't have all that killing?! Tell me there was something more brainy to this slasher mess then the shock treatment? Best bit was Tom Arnold as a totally over-the-top sports dad grooming his hopeless son for those million dollar contracts. Keep the dream alive old man!
